Lukwago death reports: Officials close to Lord Mayor rubbish claims that he’s dead

Kampala City Deputy Lord Mayor Doreen Nyanjura and Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago’s assistant Elvis Kintu have dismissed reports of the death of the head of the political wing of KCCA.

Lukwago is currently admitted at the Nairobi Hospital in Kenya.

He is experiencing chest and abdominal pain.

But even when the Lord Mayor is said to be recovering, some social media users claimed Lukwago was dead.

His deputy Nyanjura has rebuked those spreading false reports.

“There are people who have made it a preoccupation to announce others dead, from January to December this is all they do,” she noted.

“If they don’t announce those who are alive dead, they confidently declare who is next in the line of death!”

Implying that Lukwago was alive, Nyanjura urged Ugandans to be empathetic and consider how devastating false reports of one’s relative’s death can be.

“Do these sadists ever consider the pain, the psychological torture they put on those who may be sick but with a hope of recovering?” the deputy Lord Mayor wondered.

“Do they ever consider the pain, torture and anxiety they cause the family members? Guys, this isn’t funny any more!”

Lukwago’s personal assistant Kintu agreed with Nyanjura.

“It is with no doubt that my boss and City Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago is unwell and was referred for further treatment and management,” Kintu noted.

“But we should also desist from all clans and tribes of fake news and treat the same with the contempt it deserves.”

He further urged Ugandans to save the Lord mayor’s father of the trauma carried by fake news.

“Hajji Muhamood Mirundi the father to Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago is currently 92 years old,” he observed.

“Let us be sensitive and considerate in all our communications.”

The Lord mayor’s Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party’s deputy secretary for administration Harold Kaija set the record straight.

“OMULOODI [Lord Mayor] is Alive and not in any danger,” said Kaija.

“Those spreading bad news that he is dead are our enemies.”
