Newly elected speaker of Parliament gives warm hugs — and NUP MPs Joel Ssenyonyi of Nakawa West and Francis Zaake of Mityana Municipality can attest to this warmth.
Ahead of the election of a news speaker to replace the late Jacob Oulanyah, Among was pictured handing Zaake and Ssenyonyi very lovely hugs.
The hugs came as a surprise to some, especially given that Zaake and Among were enemies following the ouster of the former from his commissioner job.
Zaake had even run to court to challenge his removal from the commission.
The pictures of Among giving hugs have attracted attention online, with radical opposition supporters even suggesting that Zaake could have reconciled after many weeks of bad blood.
While other supporters went as far as alleging that Zaake and Ssenyonyi might be on their way to working with Among and his NRM.
But, well, MPs are colleagues and they are not supposed to be enemies to the extent of denying each other hugs.
Meanwhile, Anita Among has since been elected new speaker replacing the late Jacob Oulanyah. (Read Story Here and Among’s quick profile Here).
