The list of best and worst universities, institutes and other higher education institutions has been released. Up to 69 universities and institutes made it to the list for the July 2023 edition as released by Webometrics.
According to Webometrics, the Ranking Web is not a ranking of the websites of Universities but rather a ranking of Universities which uses both webometric (all missions) and bibliometric (research mission) indicators.
Now in its second decade of rankings, Webometrics says the primary objective of the Ranking Web is to promote Open Access to the knowledge generated by the University, and that the best strategy to improve your rank is to increase quantity and quality of your webcontents.
The July 2023 rankings were based on impact, openness and excellence.
The best 10 universities are: Makerere University, Kampala International University, Mbarara University of Science and Technology, Kyambogo University, Gulu University, Busitema University, Kabale University, Uganda Martyrs University, Islamic University in Uganda and Ndejje University.
The 10 worst universities and institutes are: Kayiwa International University, Fins Medical University, Glad Tidings Bible College, Kampala School of Health Sciences, Makerere Business Institute, Monaco Institute, Permanent Centre for Education, Mityana Agro-vet Institute, Salaama Vocational Education Center, Mulago School of Nursing and Midwifery, and Nagenda International Academy of Art and Design (NIAAD).
