List: Here are top Museveni security chiefs, Ministers reportedly on travel ban list after US announced visa restrictions

US secretary of state Antony Blinken on April 16 announced visa restrictions against Ugandans accused of ‘undermining democracy’ and engaging in pre and post-election human rights violations.

But Pearl Times News recently reported that National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine was pushing, through his allies in US Senate and Congress, for sanctions against several security chiefs in the president Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni government.

These were:

OFFICIALS LIKELY TO FACE US SANCTIONS

  2. Maj Gen James Birungi, former Commander of the Special Forces Command (SFC)
  3. Maj Gen Don William Nabaasa, former Commander of the Special Forces Command

  6. Frank Mwesigwa, Commissioner of Police
  7. Col Chris Serunjogi Ddamulira, the Director of Crime Intelligence in the Uganda Police Force

Wanted List: Ugandan top security commanders in trouble with US after Bobi Wine ally reported them to Trump Administration

The list, yet to be released by the US government in close collaboration with its Kampala Mission and NUP, is also said to contain names of police commanders, CMI and other individual army officers accused of attacking, arresting and torturing Bobi Wine and his supporters.

There are also unconfirmed claims that the list also includes the following ministers:

  • Gen Elly Tumwine (security)
  • Sam Kutesa (foreign affairs)
  • Jeje Odongo (internal affairs)
