President and Commander in Chief of armed forces Gen Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni has promoted 1,393 national army UPDF officers, including 106 from the rank of lieutenant colonel to colonel.

Some other 191 officers were promoted from the rank of major to Lieutenant Colonel, 173 from Captain to Major, 458 from Lieutenant to Captain, 465 from Second Lieutenant to Lieutenant, while 25 are set for commissioning.
