Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago says he is devastated by the news of the death of Sheikh Nuhu Batte Muzaata.
Muzaata, the head of Da’awa at the Kibuli faction passed on December 04 at the International Hospital Kampala (IHK).
He had been ill in recent weeks.
“The sad news of the demise of Sheikh Nuhu Muzaata Batte has reached me here at my sickbed at the Nairobi Hospital and I feel extremely devastated. Life is nothing else but vanity,” said Lukwago.
Towards the end of November, Lukwago flew to Nairobi for medical checkup and treatment.
When news of his journey broke, speculation on his health condition started.
But his deputy, Doreen Nyanjura, issued a statement, noting that Lukwago was suffering from acute anaphylaxis. But the situation was not as alarming as reported, added the deputy mayor.
“The Lord Mayor was diagnosed with acute anaphylaxis which became persistent on treatment,” she said.
“While he is not in a critical condition, doctors found it [vital] to conduct further examinations and management.”
Lukwago is still in the race for the position of Kampala Lord Mayor. He is expected to return to his campaign trail in the coming weeks.
Back in Kampala, Muzaata’s burial is scheduled for December 05.
