Ugandan lawyers have elected Isaac Ssemakadde as the Uganda Law Society (ULS) President in a voting exercise that happened at the Speke Resort Munyonyo.
Ssemakadde garnered 3,021 votes or up to 65.5 per cent of the total votes cast. Isaac Ssemakadde beat Isaac Atukunda who managed 2,101 votes.
The new ULS president and his team will take over from Bernard Oundo who has steered the society since 2022.
The Bar Association for lawyers in Uganda, the Uganda Law Society says the following of its work, according to its official website: “From negotiating with and lobbying the profession’s regulators, government and others, to offering training and advice, we are here to help, protect and promote lawyers across Uganda.”
Adding, “The Uganda Law Society also provides professional services, resources, support and benefits to its members and engages in activities designed to improve access to justice.”
