Leaked Audio: Eddy Kenzo finally admits he made a mistake, but warns Bobi Wine’s supporters

Singer Edrisa Musuuza aka Eddy Kenzo has finally admitted he made a mistake to backbite Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine as revealed in a leaked audio conversation.

Leaked online at the weekend, the call conversation features Eddy Kenzo making accusations against Bobi Wine. Kenzo tells a friend that Bobi Wine has ignored him to the extent of not picking his phone calls.

He also claimed that the People Power leader has failed to support fellow artistes such as Joseph Mayanja aka Jose Chameleone who is yet to get the pressure group’s flag for the 2021 Kampala mayoral race.

Chameleone would have to officially quit Democratic Party (DP) where he is a mobilizer, to join the National Unity Platform (NUP), the political arm of People Power.

But Bobi Wine’s fans and supporters fired back at Eddy Kenzo, prompting him to go live on Facebook on August 10, and to hold a news conference at Fairway Hotel in Kampala on August 11.

In both addresses, Kenzo confessed he was “not perfect. I make mistakes. I was frustrated” and “I wouldn’t disrespect Bobi Wine in front of cameras like this. I have no problem with Bobi Wine.”

Kenzo admitted he is “short-tempered” and was “extreme with my words but I was trying to put across a point about how musicians are not given the same respect and recognition they deserve.”

“I am a Bobi Wine diehard. I even performed his song in one of my first auditions. I respect him so much and he too knows that but we just have different ideologies when it comes to some things,” he said.

“Bobi Wine has refused to respect and uphold fellow musicians.”

The BET award winner made it clear he would not sheepishly follow anyone — be it Bobi Wine or President Yoweri Museveni.

“I will not follow people around like they are Bhuddas. Just like there are things I don’t agree with when it comes to President Museveni, the same applies to Bobi Wine, and just like there are ideologies of Bobi Wine that I believe in, President Museveni too has his good side,” he said.

“I have no problem with the current President of Uganda because he has given me peace and a war-free country that has enabled me achieve what I have in the past 10 years.”

After days of social media beating over the leaked audio, Kenzo asked “my friend and elder [Bobi Wine] to control his supporters” because “I have been subjected to their abuses since the day I went to State House [to meet Museveni].”

“Where’s the love we used to spread; he [Bobi Wine] should teach them [his supporters and fans] to agree to disagree respectfully,” he appealed.

“I am ready to face any challenge and ready to stand alone for the truth. I expected everyone to perceive my message in a different way but some emotional people think that Bobi doesn’t make mistakes.”
