Komamboga Blast: What We Know So Far

Uganda Police Force (UPF) has confirmed that a blast happened in Komamboga in Kampala Saturday evening.

The explosion, which happened at Digida Eating Point, was reported at about 9pm.

Police spokesperson Fred Enanga said one person has been “fatally wounded” while seven others had been rushed to Mulago National Referral Hospital.

Enanga described their injuries as “serious.”

Earlier reports had put the number of the dead between two and five.

“There was a bomb blast. Two persons a young lady and a gentleman fatally wounded and others admitted with serious injuries,” police chief political commissar Asan Kasingye had tweeted before Enanga issued a statement.

Enanga said investigations into the matter had started.

Police called for calm.

“The scene has been cordoned off, and our joint task teams from the bomb squad called to thoroughly document the scene, to help determine whether the explosion arose out of an intentional act or not,” said Enanga.

“We ask the public to remain calm, as we establish the true circumstances surrounding the incident.”

The blast happened days after the UK warned there could be terrorist attacks against Uganda.
