A section of workers at Kasese Guide Radio Omusondolya, one of the best radio stations in Kasese District, were yesterday seen crying as they bade farewell to former Managing Director Rev Fr Agustine Sunday Masereka.
Reports indicate that the staff had a good working relationship with the outgoing director.
Sister Sarah Muhindo has been appointed to take over from Rev Fr Masereka.
On August 09, the catholic Diocese of Kasese bade farewell to Rev Fr Masereka at a function held at Kasese Guide Radio gardens.
Rev Fr Masereka was last month appointed Chief Manager for Uganda Catholic Television by the Uganda Episcopal Conference.
Speaking during the function, the Rt Rev Aquirinus Kibira Francis, the Bishop of the Diocese of Kasese asked Rev Fr Augustine to go and bear fruits that will last forever.
He asked him to be patient, loving, forgive all the people that might have wronged him but to above all remain hardworking.
In his speech, Rev Fr Masereka indicated that priests are universal, giving them an opportunity to serve in all parts of the world.
He asked his successor to always have meetings with his staff, revealing this is what helped him serve the station for 15 years. Masereka urged Muhindo to focus on the good part of her employees and seek to address weaknesses.
The station’s Board Chairperson Constantine Bwambale, a renowned businessman in Kasese town, applauded Rev Fr Masereka for a job well done. Bwambale further indicated that Masereka opened their eyes on how radios operate.
Sister Sarah Muhindo, who has been appointed to replace Masereka, comes from the Banyatereza Sisters who are based in Virika, Fort Portal Diocese.
