Rwanda’s president Paul Kagame has sent a representative to attend the burial of the fallen central Bank of Uganda (BoU) governor Prof Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile.
Mutebile died in Nairobi at the weekend. (Read story here, and a related one there).
His burial will cost millions. (Read story here).
Mutebile will be laid to rest in Kabale Municipality on January 30.
Now, the government, through its foreign affairs ministry, has confirmed that President Kagame has sent a representative to attend the final sendoff.
“The Government of Uganda acknowledges the representative sent by the Government of the Republic of Rwanda to attend the official burial ceremony of the late Prof. Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile, former Governor Bank of Uganda,” said the foreign affairs ministry in its statement on the reopening of the Katuna/Gatuna border point with Rwanda.
