Kadaga, Kasule Lumumba Finally Reconcile after Years of Bickering

Following many years of enmity, First Deputy Prime Minister Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga, and Justine Kasule Lumumba, the Minister in charge of General Duties in the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM), have reconciled and chosen to work together for the development of Busoga sub region.

For long, it was an open secret that Kadaga and Kasule Lumumba were sworn enemies, especially during the time when the former was speaker of Parliament of Uganda and the latter the secretary general of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM).

But this changed at the weekend when the two agreed to work together. At a Busoga event that ended with prayer at Iganga Primary School in Iganga District, Kadaga and Lumumba shook hands and publicly ended their enmity.

In presence of top leaders from the central government and Kyabazinga’s Busoga Kingdom, the two powerful women signed a pact of unity as well as a commitment to the development of the sub region.

Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja, who is the boss to these two Busoga politicians who have bickered for long, was the chief guest the Iganga Primary School event. Milly Babirye Babalanda, the Minister in charge of the presidency, was also president, and so were Kigulu South Member of Parliament Kigulu Milton Muwuma Kalulu as well as Kamuli Municipality MP Kayanga Baroda Watongola.

Present from Busoga Kingdom were the first and second Deputy Prime Ministers of Obwa Kyabazinga Bwa Busoga, Prof Muhamadi Lubega and Owek Osman Noor.

It should be remembered that many were anticipating fireworks after President Museveni put Kadaga and Lumumba in the Office of the Prime Minister in the cabinet reshuffle of June 2021. (See Full Cabinet List Here).
