Kadaga: I Will not Attend Jacob Oulanyah’s Burial

Former speaker of parliament Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga has revealed that she will not attend other funeral events for her successor, the late Jacob L’Okori Oulanyah, including the burial in Omoro District on April 08.

Currently serving as the first deputy prime minister and minister of East African Affairs, Kadaga today paid tribute to Oulanyah during a special sitting of Parliament.

Kadaga said she and Oulanyah had a good working relationship. (Read Story Here).

This was the second time Kadaga was coming to Parliament since she lost the speaker position to Oulanyah in May 2021.

The first time was last week. (Read Story Here).

After paying tribute to Oulanyah in today’s special session, Kadaga notified Speaker Among that she wouldn’t attend other events to honour and send off Oulanyah.

These include an event that will be presided over by President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni at Kololo Independence Grounds, as well as burial in Omoro. (Read Full Funeral Program HERE).

“I will not be able to attend the other functions because of other obligations, but I want to say farewell to my friend, colleague and partner,” said Kadaga.

The former speaker will be out of the country for EAC activities in Arusha and Nairobi.
