And on April 05, speaking during a special sitting of parliament convened to pay tribute to Oulanyah, Kadaga, who is also the deputy prime minister and minister for East African Affairs, said she and Oulanyah had a good working relationship.

But she revealed that she discovered that Oulanyah was sick by accident.

“We had a good working relationship with the late Speaker of Parliament, Jacob Oulanyah,” said Kadaga.

“It was in 2019 that I also realized that Hon Jacob was not well. It happened by accident and I was looking for him because we were approaching Christmas recess and there were some items I was looking for on the order paper.”

She added: “Hon Oulanyah wouldn’t stay for long in the country. He was always in and out [of the country to seek treatment]. He was struggling, but he was always trying to fulfill his obligation regardless.”

Kadaga went on to say that she informed President Museveni that Oulanyah was not well and needed treatment.

The former speaker also noted that Oulanyah spearheaded the enactment of the the copyright law and that the best way to honor the fallen speaker would be to ensure the enforcement of the law.

Speaker Oulanyah died on March 20. (Read Story Here).

Oulanyah’s body was returned on April 01 amidst tears at the Entebbe International Airport. (Read Story Here).
