Singer Moses Ssali aka Bebe Cool has asked President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni to help fly Buganda King Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi abroad for specialized treatment.
The kabaka appeared for his 66th birthday celebration looking sick on April 13.
It was not readily clear what the kabaka was suffering from. But some claimed he has been battling throat cancer for some time.
Besides the king’s ill health, the kabaka’s subjects were irked by a birthday cake they said was shaped like a coffin.
Now, Bebe Cool, who is close to President Museveni, has wondered why the kabaka is yet to fly abroad for treatment.
“I am a Muganda and a NEW Muganda (ataliwankwe) and proud of my culture and tribe. But sincerely speaking what is the Kabaka of Buganda still doing here in Uganda in such a bad health condition as if we don’t see? AND EVERY ONE IS SILENT,” said Bebe Cool.
“All high profile people, when sick, are urgently flown to countries that have better medical attention but for Kabaka’s case, [Buganda is quiet yet even when Lord Mayor Lukwago gets fever, he flies to Nairobi.”
Bebe Cool has also wondered why kingdom officials led by prime minister Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga advised the king to appear before his subjects in such a frail state of health.
“Katikkiro and your fellow Buganda officials, what are your intentions? Why even bring him [kabaka] in public for any function in the presence of media in such a condition? To embarass him?”
He has now sought the president’s attention in the kabaka’s health situation.
“My prayer is to the commander in chief, the president of the Republic of Uganda, please intervene and question the situation that surrounds the King’s health before it worsens. Allah save the King of Buganda. ALLAHU-AKBAR.”
