Kabaka Sends Clear Warning in Phone Call Conversation With Mayiga

Buganda Kingdom’s reigning monarch Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II has had a phone conversation with the Prime Minister or Katikkiro, in which he revealed how unhappy he was with the way some people were discussing the issue of his health condition.

The kabaka was particularly unhappy with the way in which his condition seemed to be politicized by people, some of them his subjects. Currently in Namibia, the Kabaka talked to the Katikkiro at about 6pm on Sunday, June 23, 2024, according to the Buganda Kingdom’s prime minister.

Hours after his conversation with the king, Katikkiro Mayiga divulged some of the contents of the conversation during the reading of the Buganda Kingdom at Bulange, Mengo. Mayiga said he was glad to inform the sitting that the king was ably reigning.

Mayiga went on to say that the Kabaka was pleased with his subjects who had avoided some bad elements that seek to take advantage of his sickness to meet their selfish agenda through some sort of uprising.

The katikkiro has been under pressure from some subjects to explain the health condition and the whereabouts of the kabaka after he skipped key kingdom events, raising speculation on where he was and if he has fine.

People asking these kinds of questions, Katikkiro Mayiga said, should not be given attention since, in his view, they do not mean well for the king and his kingdom.

“Whenever he is here and they can see him, they say I should ensure that I send or take him abroad for treatment. Yet when he is out of the country for treatment, they say I should bring him,” Mayiga noted.

He added that this group of unscrupulous people with a selfish agenda keep coming up with new demands on the kabaka and the manner in which the affairs of the kingdom are being run. He also accused them of one claiming that the Kabaka was dead only for them to see him with President Uhuru Kenyatta the following day.

Labelling such people “shameless,” Katikkiro Mayiga wondered why they never even apologized for lying about the Kabaka, something he expected them to do.

He was also unhappy that these people are now alleging that the kabaka is a captive, wondering if they really think the king is like a street kid who the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) enforcement can round up in an operation.

On a positive side, Mayiga said the Kabaka had told him how happy he was with how determined the people of the Kingdom of Buganda had remained in as far as ensuring that the development programs continue.

He was optimistic the king will return to his Kingdom as and when his doctors are convinced that he has got the recovery he needs for his work.

Weeks ago, Buganda Kingdom subjects were shocked to learn that the Kabaka was being treated at a mental hospital in Namibia. (See Details Here).
