A passenger plane carrying about 50 people has landed into Lake Victoria this Sunday morning, raising fears about the safety of those the aircraft plunged into the water mass. The plane which crash landed belonged to Precision Air.
According to authorities in Tanzania, the crash happened in the Kagera Region and the plan was nearly landing at the Bukoba Airport when it plunged into Lake Victoria. Efforts to rescue the passengers are underway and nobody had been confirmed dead by publication time. Kagera Police boss William Mwampaghale has been quoted as telling Daily Nation that “no casualties have been reported so far.”
The incident is being blamed on the bad weather. That there was a heavy rain and strong winds in the Kagera Region and that these could have contributed to the crash landing of the plan that was said to have 49 passengers on board.
