JUST IN: Museveni NRA Bush War Veteran Dead – He Was Among the Original 27 Fighters

One of the original 27 fighters of President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni’s National Resistance Army (NRA) war has died.

Col Jack Mucunguzi has been hospitalized in recent days. He breathed his last on Sunday, June 18.

Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa, who visited Col Mucunguzi in hospital last Wednesday, has sent condolences to the family of the fallen NRA fighter.

“Sad to learn of the death of Col. Jack Mucunguzi, this morning, one of the original 27 NRA fighters. I visited him in hospital last Wednesday and he was in an upbeat mood,” said Tayebwa.

“My condolences to Harriet and the children, KagutaMuseveni, Carol and Douglas Rukaari and the greater UPDF family. We celebrate Afande’s enormous contribution to the struggle that liberated our country. Rest well Afande.”

MP Fox Odoi praised Mucunguzi for helping tax collector Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) fight smuggling.

“Heartfelt condolences to the family of Col. Jack Mucunguzi. He was a gem and unsung hero. Apart from being one of the original 27 NRA fighters, Jack Mucunguzi designed the architecture for anti smuggling at URA hence the increase in revenue collection. Farewell my friend Jack,” wrote Odoi.

It should be remembered that some NRA bush war fighters and commanders have had some really painful and sad ends. For example, last year, Dr Kizza Besigye revealed how he was shocked when former NRA bush war commander Kashillingi came to him begging for Shs50K to buy medicine. (See Details Here and There).

The other prominent former NRA bush war commander who died months ago was Gen Elly Tumwine who, before he breathed his last, left a very clear message for Museveni on leaving power. (Read Story Here).
