Government Chief Whip Thomas Tayebwa has announced he will not join the race to replace late speaker Jacob L’Okori Oulanyah.
Tayebwa (Ruhinda North – NRM) made the announcement March 22 morning, hours before those interested in the seat are expected to express interest in the NRM flag.
“I wish to thank you Honorable colleagues for the calls you have made to me to contest for the position of Speaker of Parliament after the unfortunate passing of our senior Rt. Hon. Jacob Oulanyah. This shows you appreciate the work we are doing and it energizes us to do more,” he wrote.
