Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) Registrar General Mercy Kainobwisho has spoken out after what is believed to be the salary structure showing how much she and others at the bureau earn every month, was shared online. The list of URSB salaries has left most Ugandans envious and grumbling.
The figures for the approved costed establishment analysis for Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) indicate that the Registrar General earns Shs 40 million a month, while the Deputy Registrar General and the Company Secretary earn Shs 31 million monthly.
A director earns Shs 28 million per month, a head of department Shs 24 million, while a manager gets Shs 14 million. The same figures indicate that a supervisor or senior officer earns about Shs 11.9 million, an officer about Shs 8.3 million, an assistant officer Shs 5m and support start Shs 3m.
With three deputy director generals, nine directors, eight heads of department, 26 managers, 62 supervisors or senior officers, 130 officers, 53 assistant officers and 40 support staff, URSB employs 332 staff, all of whom earn a total of Shs 37.7 billion.
But cutting her social media break short, Kainobwisho has spoken out on the widely shared structure of URSB salaries. Kainobwisho said she had received “many calls” on the shared list of URSB salaries. She dismissed the shared list of URSB salaries as misleading.
Kainobwisho said the staff at the bureau can only pray for a miracle to have their salaries increased to that level.
“After months of being away from Twitter (X), I am only back to address a concern because of the many calls I have received regarding the list shared. This X space has unfortunately become a place where anyone can spread false, misleading information without consequence. Let me clarify that the list… is completely false and should be ignored,” Kainobwisho clarified via microblogging site X.
“But if it’s a prophecy for higher earnings from anywhere, we’ll wait on God for that miracle! Please dismiss this misleading information.”
