Jennifer Bamuturaki: I Got Uganda Airlines CEO Job Without Makerere’s SWASA Academic Transcript & O-level Papers

Officials from Uganda Airlines continued shocking members of Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee on Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (Cosase) today, Thursday, August 18, with the highlight of the day’s interaction being the CEO’s failure to present her academic transcript and Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE).

Today morning, Jennifer Bamuturaki, the Chief Executive Officer of Uganda’s national carrier led other Uganda Airlines officials to appear before Cosase, the public accounts committee whose chairperson is Joel Ssenyonyi, the Nakawa West MP and spokesperson of main opposition National Unity Platform.

Members of the Committee tasked CEO Bamuturaki to present her academic transcript from Makerere University where she said she had obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work and Social Administration.

The committee sought to understand if Bamuturaki was qualified for the Uganda Airlines top for which she earns Shs87m every month.

The CEO and other officials from the national carrier were first compelled to take oath before they were grilled by members on the committee who were in for more shocking revelations.

NEVER PICKED MAKERERE TRANSCRIPTED FOR CLOSE TO THREE DECADES

But she told the Ssenyonyi-led committee that she does not have her SWASA transcript from Makerere University.

MPs were shocked to learn that CEO Bamuturaki had never picked her academic transcript from Makerere yet she graduated from the hill of the learned in the year 1994.

This means that Bamuturaki has not only been in possession of her academic transcript for a cool 28 years but she has also been getting jobs without presenting this vital academic document.

Even in her current posting to which Museveni skipped a recruitment process that had been undertaken by the board of directors of Uganda Airlines, Bamuturaki did not present her academic transcript since she has never picked it from Makerere University.

LOST UCE RESULT SLIP

If MPs were shocked by Bamuturaki’s failure to present her Makerere University SWASA academic transcript, then they were in for more shock as the Uganda Airlines Chief Executive Officer was unable to show her Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) results slip.

CEO Bamuturaki told Ssenyonyi and his committee that she lost her UCE results slip and has never found it.

The committee also picked interested in the relationship between Uganda Airlines CEO Bamuturaki and

COSASE now moves to investigate the relations between the CEO Uganda Airlines and Abbavater, the public relations company that the national carrier hired to market it in at least seven destinations.

There was also concern over an attempt, in 2019, by Uganda Airlines CEO Jennifer Musiime Bamuturaki to change her name. Cosase learnt that Bamuturaki had registered a deed Poll changing her name to Jenifer Arnold Lenkai but she later changed her mind on the name change.

It should be remembered that Jennifer Bamuturaki previously told Ssenyonyi’s Cosase that she had not applied for the Uganda Airlines CEO job but Museveni had appointed her. (Read Story Here).

It also emerged that Jennifer Bamuturaki lacked the requisite qualifications for the Uganda Airlines CEO job. (Read Story Here).

Meanwhile, Cosase MPs were shocked to learn of the ‘juicy salaries’ that the ‘unqualified’ Bamuturaki and other Uganda Airlines top bosses were earning every month even when the national carrier was making losses. (Read Story Here).
