Janet Museveni’s Education Ministry Speaks Out on Release of Revised 2021-2022 School Calendar

First lady Janet Museveni’s Ministry of Education and Sports has called for patience as calls for the issuance of the revised school calendar for the 2022 academic year intensify.

Learning and teaching have for almost two years been disrupted by Covid19 lockdowns.

But in his recent address, President Yoweri Museveni made it clear education institutions and the entire economy would be fully reopened in January 2022 whether Ugandans embrace Covid19 vaccination or not.

With just two months to January 2022, some education stakeholders are urging Janet Museveni’s ministry to release the revised school calendar so that parents and teachers can prepare.

The ministry says a condensed curriculum will be rolled out when schools reopen so that learners can acquire the core knowledge and competencies.

Officials at the ministry are reportedly working on school calendar and making the necessary arrangements for the rollout of the condensed curriculum.

The ministry has now made it clear the revised school calendar is yet to be released.

“The Ministry of Education and Sports has NOT yet issued the School Calendar for Pre-Primary, Primary, and Secondary Education levels,” it said in a short statement.

“Once it is ready, it shall be officially announced to the public.”
