First lady Janet Museveni says now is God’s appointed time to visit Luweero, the epicenter of a five-year guerilla war her husband Gen Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni waged against the Milton Obote II government after the contested 1980 presidential election results.
On May 07, Janet Museveni and her husband Yoweri were in Luweero to attend their daughter Pastor Patience Rwabwogo’s Light up Luweero for Jesus Crusade.
Also the Education and Sports Minister, Janet Museveni said that Luweero holds “a special place in the nation and in my heart.”
She talked of the National Resistance Army (NRA) war, which catapulted her husband to power in 1986, but left the Luweero Triangle like the biblical valley of dry bones.
“The bush war that was fought here brought freedom to Uganda, but it also brought a lot of pain to the people of the land. There was a lot of bloodshed during the years of war ans when it finally came to an end, Luweero was like the valley of dry bones spoken of in Ezekiel 37,” noted Janet Museveni.
She went on to say that she believes God has chosen this time to restore Luweero, insisting it is only God who can heal the areas devastated by Museveni’s war, which left hundreds of thousands of Ugandans dead.
“The journey for Luweero to come out of the spiritual, emotional, and physical trauma of those years hasn’t been easy. But I believe this is God’s appointed time to visit Luweero in a special way,” said Ms Museveni.
“It’s only God who can bring spiritual healing and restoration to the hearts and minds of people so that they can move on with their lives. Through repentance, a spirit of brokenness and forgiveness towards others, we can choose to let go of the past and receive the future He has for us.”
Meanwhile, President Museveni praised his daughter Pastor Patience Rwabwogo for choosing to spiritually liberate Luweero. (Read Story Here).
