Parliament’s director of Communications and Public Affairs Chris Obore has used his statement on Speaker Jacob Oulanyah’s health to attack his enemy and former speaker Rebecca Kadaga.
A report by tabloid Daily Pepper claimed Speaker Oulanyah was critically ill and was set to be airlifted abroad for specialized treatment.
Obore quickly dismissed the reports, saying Oulanyah was spending time with his children.
But Obore, the official spokesperson of Parliament, peppered his response with veiled attacks against Kadaga.
Kadaga had locked Obore out of his Parliament job but the former Daily Monitor journalist returned to his office immediately Kadaga lost to Oulanyah.

Obore suggested that Kadaga had turned the office of the speaker and the institution of Parliament her own, relegating her deputy to a filler whenever she is away.
The publicist further insinuated Kadaga was used to pomp.
Although he didn’t mention Kadaga’s name, Obore’s comparison of previous handling of parliamentary business with the new approach of running the office of the speaker and institution of Parliament are being interpreted as an attack against the immediate former speaker.
“The Deputy Speaker chairs the House as a shared responsibility not only when the Speaker is away. The new approach is that the deputy speaker works even when the Speaker is in the country not just as a filler,” said Obore.
“Speaker Oulanyah promised the country that its not about him as the individual but parliament as an institution. He is in touch with his deputy and they run the show together. Pomp is not his style.”
