Recently released photos of Harriet Nakwedde, the Kayunga District LCV Chairperson by-election candidate for National Unity Platform (NUP), show a healing scar.
For some days towards the end of the Kayunga LCV by-election, Nakwedde was seen with a bandage on her cheek.
Some people claimed that it was a stunt meant to win her the sympathy of the electorate.
But now, according to NUP Secretary General David Lewis Rubongoya, when Nakwedde visited the party’s head office in Kamwokya, Kampala, a scar was visible.
“Comrade Nakwedde Harriet was brutalised by the military two weeks back. Regime apologists took to social media to say it was a stunt. She passed by office today and the scar on her face is fresh,” wrote Rubongoya.
“We should never allow power and greed to blind us to the realities in our country.”
Nakwedde lost to Andrew Muwonge of the NRM party, according to official results that shocked NUP.
