You don’t want to know how Twitter has, for the last four weeks, been engaging with hashtag #MKat48 trending. And finally, the much anticipated 48th birthday of Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba has been celebrated. On Saturday, after the morning marathon run at kololo and the kasiki in Bushenyi that were part of the events to mark Lt. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s 48th Birthday, people descended into Lugogo Cricket Oval, to celebrate and crown the day. It was blissful, lavish and boisterous.

Ministers, MPs, religious leaders, business community and members of the community were present. It was, as the birthday boy tweeted, an open party of no colours. It was all cheers and ululations as the birthday boy arrived accompanied by Generational Generals.

Guest were given a treat. There was entertainment by top artists. Food was in plenty. From guests who were present, events preceding the birthday celebration, t-shirts birthday party revellers had donned, to the banners carrying calling for Gen. Muhoozi Presidency, it was clear that this was more than just the birthday. And it was summed in part of his speech when the birthday Gen. said, “This is not about me, it is about the Country.”

Like Gen. Tumwine famed for shooting the first bullet during the struggle that ushered NRM to power in 1986, Gen. Sejusa (Gen. Tinyefuza then), in May 2013, stoked the fire regarding what he coined as “Muhoozi Project.”

He alleged that the birthday boy was being groomed to carry the mantle from his Father, President Museveni.

In one of his tweets about this, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba said, “I never, ever looked for popularity or power. I was content to be a quiet professional Officer in PGB/SFC. It was Tinyefuza who attacked me in May of 2013. He was the first person to talk of a ‘Muhoozi Project’. I never heard of such a thing. The haters helped me get loved.”

Muhoozi Kainerugaba: I Was Never Interested in Power But Gen Sejusa & Other Haters Made Ugandans Love Me, Thanks to ‘Muhoozi Project’ Claims

And going by the birthday celebrations at the weekend, it seems more is yet to come. if a Sunday morning tweet from his marketing strategist, Balam, that the next birthday bash is Kotido, Karamoja, is anything to go by, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba is not about to turn back. Who knows where next? Happy Birth Day Commandant.
