I’M SORRY SIR! Bobi Wine’s Deputy Finally Apologizes for Labelling Besigye ‘Rotten Meat’

National Unity Platform (NUP) deputy president Lina Zedriga Waru says she is sorry for labelling opposition leader Dr Kizza Besigye ‘rotten meat.’

Zedriga is deputy to singer-turned-politician Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine of NUP.

She told ‘Big Conversations by Ordinary People’ that Bobi Wine was far better than Dr Besigye.

Besigye is Museveni’s fiercest critic in the past two decades.

Bobi Wine made his debut at presidential politics in the 2021 election.

Besigye, who has challenged Museveni four times, stayed away from the poll.

In her criticism of Besigye, Zedriga talked of how Besigye had associated with President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni.

A medical doctor by training, Dr Besigye was then warlord Museveni’s personal physician during the five-year bush war that brought the current NRM government to power.

Besigye fell out with Museveni at the turn of the millennium and had remained his most sensible critic.

According to Zedriga, Besigye marched into opposition politics with dirt.

“Besigye was not a pop star, he was a military already dirty with the history and association of Museveni. Bobi Wine is clean meat, cut clean. Besigye in politics was rotten meat thrown over and cleaned a bit,” said Zedriga.

“The moment they hear that you have talked to Museveni, even your listeners will drop, you will see.”

But Bobi Wine’s deputy would later accuse ‘Big Conversations by Ordinary People’ of maliciously cutting and doctoring this damaging part out of the many minutes of the podcast.

She then apologized.

“[The podcast] has caused heartaches, anger, stress to scores of citizens, especially at this stressful moment,” she noted.

“I sincerely apologize to each and every person especially Dr. Besigye Waren, my team, and Ugandans. To err is human and to forgive is divine.”

Weeks ago, DP president general Norbert Mao also apologized to Besigye.
