Uganda Police Force (UPF) spokesperson Fred Enanga says his boss IGP Martins Okoth Ochola is neither admitted in hospital nor in any hospital on oxygen support.
Police chief IGP Ochola has not been seen in public for months, prompting rumors that he could be sick.
Ochola missed the funeral of his deputy Lt Gen Paul Lokech who died suddenly last month.
According to Enanga, Ochola suffered “a bit of hypertension” upon learning of the shocking death of Lokech but he was not out of danger.
“Please disregard rumours circulating on social media claiming that the IGP, is hospitalised and on oxygen,” said Enanga.
“Much as the IGP, developed a bit of hypertension, after hearing with shock, the sudden demise of his former Deputy Lt Gen Paul Lokech, his condition was not life threatening, after it was effectively managed by both his Personal Doctor and the Police Surgeon.”
Enanga says the police is even back to work.
“We do reiterate that the IGP is not hospitalised as claimed in certain media circles,” added the police spokesperson.
“He is in good condition, with a back to normal pressure level and has been working throughout the month of September.”
