It was a night of confessions of love and reflections as Netflix’s reality TV series, Young, Famous and African, where Tanzanian singer Diamond Platinumz and his ex-lover baby mama Zari Hassan, the South Africa-based Ugandan socialite, openly talked about their failed relationship.
Zari and Diamond Platnumz broke up in 2018 over the latter’s cheating allegations.
During the show, Diamond admitted that he will forever love Zari.
“She’s the most amazing woman I have ever dated. How can I not love the person that gave me two kids? I will forever love her,” he confessed.
So, why did Diamond cheat on a woman he loves so much. It had everything to do with the long distance between Tanzania and South Africa.
“I was satisfying my urge because of long distance relationship. She was in South Africa and I always told her to come and stay in Tanzania but we failed to agree on that. So it was a long distance relationship and it got lonely at night,” explained Diamond.
“There was this lady who used to be my ex, we started dating back home and then we accidentally got a kid, she then wanted to go public about it but I as I was still insisting, the news accidentally went public.”
And the conversation went on…
Zari: Do you ever miss us? Do you ever sit and say ‘I wish I had my family, I wish I had my kids here? I wish I had her here?’ Do you ever miss us?
Diamond: Of course.
Zari to Kanyi Mbau: It’s easier being happy and co-parenting with him than me being very bitter about what he did. It was not just one time. It was many times. Too many times. And all he did was say he was sorry. I needed more than just a plain sorry from Diamond.
Diamond: The biggest thing I lost is trust. To lose trust is a very bad thing. No matter how much you try to rebuild it.
Zari: It’s one thing when I say you messed up and you’re trying to prove to me that you have changed. There were times I really knew you messed up but I kept quiet. For the sake of peace, for us to be happy, I let it go. But these [girls] started producing receipts of your behavior, what you did, and the receipts were in our faces. You gave me away. You know I was there for you. I would take a bullet for you, I would deny for you, but every time I did that for you, you did the opposite. Your job as a head of the family was to protect me, lead me, guide me, advise me. You didn’t do that for me. I was left alone standing and thinking where am I supposed to go?
Diamond to Andile and Annie Macaulay Idibia: I kinda feel like sometimes I don’t deserve her. Like she doesn’t deserve me, because I’m stu*id:that’s how I feel. Sometimes when I look at my life, I feel like I have a long 4**ckin way to go. I know who I am. I will never make you happy like you want or how you deserve. I don’t want to lose the respect I have for her and the respect she has for me. I’m tryna keep it so that we can still raise our kids.
