After weeks of criticizing Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine, controversial academic and politician Dr Stella Nyanzi has now praised the National Unity Platform (NUP) leader for declaring peaceful protests.
On Tuesday, Bobi Wine, who lost to incumbent President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni in the January 14 election, declared countrywide peaceful protests.
Nyanzi, who had spent weeks castigating Bobi Wine for being dictator — among other claims — rushed to praise the singer for his boldness.
“I celebrate Bobi Wine’s call for peaceful protests against the excesses of dictator Museveni in Uganda. I do. [This] call underscores why I believe in him,” said Nyanzi.
“This is what I admired in him as a leader in the fight for freedom in our country; the ability to galvanise masses for civil disobedience and civil action.”
She further emphasized the need for opposition unity.
“I also insist that the opposition in Uganda needs to unite now more than ever, if we are to make inroads into our fight for freedom,” continued Nyanzi, currently in Kenya.
“FDC has got the longtime experience of organising and executing sustained defiance actions. NUP has the popularity and youthful masses particularly in the capital city and other urbanities.
“Of course, all the other political parties that believe in the call for peaceful protests must be welcome to this new phase of the struggle.”
She equally blasted her critics, telling them they will soon learn to live with the truth that springs from her.
