A youthful executive director of a Non-governmental Organization (NGO) is in deep trouble over the signature of Janet Museveni, the Ugandan first lady and education minister.

Kenneth Niwamanya, who is only 24, is the executive director of Umoja Youth Development Initiative Uganda.

On September 04, he appeared before Buganda Road Court over charges of forgery.

Presiding over the court was chief magistrate Ronald Kayizi.

State prosecution alleges that on August 22, while at Embassy House, where the Ministry of Education and Sports sits, forged the signature of Janet Museveni and placed it on a letter, a to-whom-it-may-concern, whose date indicated it was issued on July 24. Prosecution avers that the intention of forging the Janet Museveni signature was deception.

The state also faults Niwamanya of relying on the letter with the forged letter to solicit funds from unsuspecting officials.

It also emerged that Niwamanya had a mega plan of holding an event at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.

Chief magistrate Ronald Kayizi remanded Niwamanya to prison until September 23. He will return for the mention of his case and to apply for bail since he has a right to it and the offence is bailable.

Niwamanya did not have sureties when he appeared in court on September 04.
