As it continues to lead the way in innovation for building solutions, Hima Cement has unveiled Fundi Masonry Cement, a specially formulated cement for plastering, brick laying and mortar works.
Hima Cement, a subsidiary of Bamburi Cement Group and part of the LafargeHolcim Group, launched Fundi Masonry Cement in a colorful event that attracted several diginitaries, including from the construction industry, at its premises in Namanve Industrial Park.
The new product is proof of Hima Cement’s capacity to offer innovative solutions to meet specific construction needs as understood by the Research and Development (R&D) team that regularly interacts with builders and other construction experts.
“Fundi is an application-based cement that is formulated with enhanced capabilities for masonry and plaster works. The customer is guaranteed improved workability, affordability and beautiful finishes,” said Jean-Michel Pons, the Hima Cement Country CEO.
CCEO Pons further explained that Fundi Masonry Cement had been manufactured from high grade ingredients using the world class technology to make it achieve superior workability, and become “the best solution for the quality demands of bricklaying, plasterwork, and screeds; both for individual home builders and large construction projects.”
As is the norm with all Hima Cement products such as Multipurpose, Rapidset, PowerCrete, PowerMax, PowerPlus, RoadCem, Minecem and Supaset, the manufacturers were well aware of the issue of sustainability and environmental protection.
CCEO Pons made it clear that “sustainability is a top criteria for Hima Cement in designing products with a commitment to provide value for the customers but also reduce the carbon footprint.”
As such, Fundi Masonry Cement is the most environmentally friendly cement product in the country.
“In addition to addressing the application needs for masonry works, Fundi masonry cement is now the greenest cement on the Ugandan market,” explained the Hima Cement boss.
“Fundi is produced with a reduced carbon footprint, with 54% less CO2 emissions in comparison to ordinary Portland cement.”
The cement product, which construction experts already agree will revolutionize the industry, is already on the market and can be accessed at any retail hardware store near you and on Jumia.
Besides Uganda, Fundi Masonry Cement will also be exported to South Sudan, Eastern DR Congo and in a number of East African countries where Hima Cement remains a preferred provider of cement and concrete based building solutions.
New products also mean more jobs for Ugandans.
Currently, the Hima Cement factories in Kasese, Tororo and Namanve have the capacity to produce 2,100,000 tons of cement annually and employ over 2,000 people directly and indirectly.
