Here’s How Museveni Will Spend His Shs402bn Budget Share of the National Cake

State House has told Parliament’s Committee in charge of Presidential Affairs that President Yoweri Museveni’s office will need Shs402bn for various activities in the 2022-2023 Financial Year.

In its budget framework paper, the presidency ministry, represented by Peter Ogwang, the state minister for economic monitoring in the office of the president, has presented its estimates for the next financial year.

Of the Shs402bn, State House intends to use Shs39.3bn to rehabilitate State House Entebbe as well as Nakasero State Lodge and 23 state lodges.

The justification for the rehabilitation of State House Entebbe is that it has not been worked on since 2007 when Uganda was preparing for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (Chogm).

State House will spend Shs13.4bn on the procurement of security equipment.

A total of Shs109.7bn will go towards poverty eradication efforts.

The president’s office also plans to spend Shs231.3bn to fulfill about 80 per cent of presidential pledges. This amount will also cater for fees for 3,425 students.

The money State House intends to spend on foreign travel as well as vehicles remains unknown.

But State House plans to procure 14 new vehicles for the presidential convoy.

More money will also be spent on the annual maintenance of the presidential jet and helicopter.
