Here Are The Juicy Muslim Properties Set to be Auctioned

 

Last week,  the Commercial Divison of the High Court issued a warrant of attachment and sale of immovable property granting Louiza Auctioneers permission to attach several properties of the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) should they fail to settle a shillings 19bn debt by 21, December.

 

Here, we bring you key among the properties facing auction which include the  Uganda Muslim Supreme Council’s (UMSC) headquarters building in Old Kampala, which also houses the Gadaffi National Mosque.

 

Second is the land on which the building sits with a Muslim hospital, a radio station- Bilal radio, the Islamic Call University and a business complex.

 

Several pieces of real estate are similarly up for auction including Plot 30 William Street in Kampala (Masjid Noor and shops), leasehold land 2771 Folio 2, Plot 5463 in Kyadondo, land at Kyanja, and a one square mile tract of land in Bukwe, Hoima.

 

Also due for enforced sale is a one-acre piece of land on Lubas Road in Jinja City; land in Mbale City; shares in Uganda Ranchers Ltd and Commercial Holdings Ltd, subsidiaries of the UMSC under which two square miles of land are owned in Migyera-Buluri and land in Entebbe opposite Victoria Mall.

Through its spokesperson, Mr Ziwa Muvawala Ashiraf, the UMSC has appealed for calm from the faithful, insisting the situation is still under control and that the institution is not that poor to let its properties get auctioned even if they lose the appeal they have since filed.

“UMSC is not that poor that we can lose our property because of that money. We are going to do our best to ensure that the Muslim properties are secured,” he said.
