A number of former ministers are expected to return to Cabinet as President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni’s put final touches to the list of ministers he will work with in the next five years.
Museveni will take oath of office for his sixth elective and successive five-year term at the end of which he will have led Uganda for four decades.
Those set to return to Museveni’s cabinet include:
Mbabazi is a former prime minister of Uganda and ex-ruling NRM secretary general until 2014.
He challenged President Museveni in the 2016 election but performed dismally.
He has set out to mend his relationship with Museveni in recent years, sparking speculation of his return to cabinet.
He is on the lists of those tipped to become Vice President and Prime Minister.

After years outside cabinet and Parliament, former health minister and ex-Soroti Municipality MP Mukula is said to be tipped for a big cabinet post as a reward for campaigning for Museveni in the 2016 and 2021 elections, and for uprooting FDC from his home subregion of Teso.
Previously facing graft charges over donor funds, Mukula’s stay in the cold has seen him tirelessly work for the NRM party, work he could soon reap from.
Leaving cabinet to replace defiant Mbabazi as NRM Secretary General in 2014, former Government Chief Whip Lumumba is tipped to return to cabinet as Museveni plots to shakeup the party’s secretariat.
The former information and national guidance minister is also expected back in cabinet after years in the cold.
Muhwezi, Museveni’s bush war comrade, won back his Rujumbura County Parliamentary seat from FDC’s Fred Turyamuhweza, earning more chances of returning to cabinet.
