Opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has said plain clothed operatives have arrested its Electoral Commission (EC) secretary Augustine Ojobile.
Ojobile is also the acting Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) at the FDC.
The party said the political activist had been picked from his home in Kasubi in the capital Kampala.
“The regime has started arresting our staff members. This morning plain-clothed gunmen arrested Mr. Augustine Ojobile our Electoral commission secretary and acting Deputy Chief Administrative officer from his home in Kasubi,” FDC said in a statement.
“We are yet to find the reason for his arrest and his whereabouts.”
FDC activist Habib Buwembo claimed Ojobile had been arrested while leaving his home August 09 morning.
Buwembo further alleged that Ojobile had been arrested by suspected security operatives who “bundled him into a Prado with private number plates.”
Another FDC member said he had established Ojobile was currently being held at Kawempe Police Station.
