Furious Female Mangu Cash Loan Officer Threatens Thomas Tayebwa after ‘Next of Kin’ Defaulted Loan

Thomas Tayebwa, the deputy speaker of Uganda’s Parliament, has complained to digital financial sector regulators and security agencies over Mangu Cash loan app.

Thomas Tayebwa claimed that a furious loans officer who introduced herself as being from Mangu Cash had called him demanding that he produces a certain person who had borrowed money from the loan app.

The borrower reportedly put deputy speaker Thomas Tayebwa as his next of kin.

The female loans officer from Mangu Cash threatened to deduct the money the borrower has either refused or failed to pay from the next of kin: deputy speaker Thomas Tayebwa.

The deputy speaker has now called for strict regulations for loan apps.

“Whoever is regulating these online lenders should crack the whip on them. I have just received a call from some tough-speaking lady claiming to be from Mangu Cash threatening to deduct their loan money if I don’t produce some random person who put my name as their next of kin when they were borrowing,” noted deputy speaker Thomas Tayebwa.

“I think a lot of criminality is going on. I hope our telecoms do not allow their mobile money platforms to be used to carry out fraud orchestrated by such unscrupulous companies. AIGP Tom Magambo you need to interest your self in this sector many Ugandans might be dying quietly.”

AIGP Magambo, who heads police’s directorate of criminal investigations, told deputy speaker Thomas Tayebwa that his “concern is well received.”

He added, “My colleagues and I, will do our best to handle this and other related crimes.”

The female Mangu Cash loans officer is not the first Ugandan to dare a powerful government official. A typist previously dared a Museveni minister by attempting to bribe him with Shs40m, as reported Here.
