As part of efforts to improve staffing levels in secondary schools across the country, government, through first lady Janet Museveni’s Ministry of Education and Sports, is undertaking a recruitment exercise for teachers.
The exercise is being carried out by the Education Service Commission (ESC). The commission has now released additional lists for subjects which had not appeared in a previous release.
The subjects include English, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, ICT and Physical Education, among others, for which thousands of teachers yearning to be on the coveted government payroll applied.
The commission has made it clear to those who have not been shortlisted that they were not successful.
According to Dr Asuman Lukwago, the Secretary, Education Service Commission, the next phase of the recruitment exercise will be the conducting of interviews for those who have been shortlisted.
The interviews will happen at in batches at the four centers of Mbarara, Gulu, Arua and Mbale. Dates have been indicated for each batch.
