Uganda’s Ministry of Education and Sports, which is led by first lady Janet Kainembabazi Kataaha Museveni, has released the list of over 2,000 secondary school teachers who have passed recently administered aptitude tests for those seeking to be included on the government payroll.
The tests were conducted in June 2022 in Kampala. Those who took the tests were those who had applied for jobs to teach History, Geography, CRE, Fine Art, as well as Economics and Entrepreneurship.
For these subjects, government is seeking to recruit education officers (graduate teachers). In addition, government will also hire assistant education officers (diploma holders) to teach History and Geography.
These shortlisted candidates will now proceed to the next level, and will be subjected to oral interviews before the best can be included on the government payroll.
Oral interviews, which will be conducted by members of the Education Service Commission (ESC), will take place at Kololo Secondary School (SESEMAT Hostel) in Kampala starting on Monday, July 04 and ending on Friday, July 15.
“Please come along with your valid national identity card and original Academic and professional Documents. Please note that only candidates whose names appear on the shortlist will be interviewed,” noted acting ESC secretary Florence Abele.
“Ensure that you follow the SOPs as stipulated by the Ministry of Health.”

It should be remembered that other teachers who applied for government payroll jobs to teach other subjects have already completed their oral interviews at regional centres of Mbarara, Gulu, Mbale, Arua as well as Kampala. (See Their Names HERE and THERE).
