Full List: Here are 74 Agencies Government has scrapped

Government has finally approved 74 agencies, boards, commissions, councils, and units to be scrapped as part of its reforms to improve efficiency and effectiveness in service delivery.

On February 22, cabinet approved the recommendations for the rationalization of Government Agencies, Commissions, Authorities, Expenditure and a road map for the implementation process for a period of two years to facilitate efficient and effective service delivery.

According to government, “The overall objective of Rationalization of Agencies and Public Expenditure, was to eliminate structural ambiguities, functional duplications and overlaps, wasteful expenditures; and realize resultant short-term and long-term savings, which would be utilized to provide other critical public services in line with the approved implementation roadman.”

Here are the 74 agencies, boards, commissions, councils, and units to be scrapped or merged/mainstreamed. Some will become departments under their line ministries.

  7. Uganda Exports Promotions Board

  9. Private Sector Foundation of Uganda
  10. Privatization Unit
  11. Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC)
  12. Uganda Tourism Board (UTB)
  13. Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA)
  14. National Youth Council
  15. National Women’s Council
  16. National Council for Children
  17. National Council for Disability
  18. National Council for Older Persons
  19. National Council of Higher Education
  20. National Curriculum Development Centre
  21. Kyambogo (Teacher Curriculum)
