Fresh details: Minister Matia Kasaija opponent Paul Kyalimpa interviewed for UIA Deputy Director General Job

Buyanja County parliamentary aspirant Paul Kyalimpa who pulled out of the race in favour of finance minister Matia Kasaija had already sat interviews conducted by the Public Service Commission (PSC) by the time news of the controversial deal broke on December 08, The Pearl Times has learnt.

A week before Kyalimpa wrote to Kibaale Electoral District Returning Officer James Aggrey Ipeto informing him of his decision to quit the race, PSC had conducted an oral interview for the deputy director general of the Uganda Investment Authority (UIA).

Fresh details show a more carefully coordinated plan that assured Kyalimpa of the juicy government job.

On November 25, Board Chairman Dr Emely Kugonza wrote to PSC secretary Dr John Geoffrey Mbabazi requesting the commission to “assist and carryout a selection exercise in order to assess your suitability for appointment” to the deputy director general job.

Two days later, PSC’s Dr Mbabazi wrote to Kyalimpa inviting him for an oral interview scheduled for December 01 at 02:30pm in the Commission’s Main Board Room on the second floor of Farmer’s House along Parliament Avenue.

Before the oral interview, Kyalimpa presented original copies of his academic, professional and employment record documents and his National ID.

This revelation shows that as fury raged online over the ‘irregular’ appointment, the deal had been sealed a week earlier.
