Former NTV Uganda news anchor Frank Walusimbi has spoken about his new job at a United Nations (UN) agency.
Walusimbi, who signed out of NTV where had worked, including as a Luganda news anchor and talk show host, for about 15 years.
The journalist had earlier been rumored to be planning to switch to another media house but it later emerged that he was joining UNHRC, the refugee agency of the United Nations.
He has now confirmed that he has already began work and that his title is UNHCR Uganda Associate Communications Officer.
Walusimbi thanked Ugandans for loving him, appreciating his work while he was still at NTV Uganda, and for wishing him well in his next assignment.
“Folks, I took on a new role as Associate Communications Officer at UNHCR Uganda. For some days now, I have been fathoming out the appreciation and best wishes you sent out to me when I announced that I had ceased my duties at NTV,” he wrote.
“Words alone cannot express my gratitude. My new role is spanned by humanitarian work and I invite you to contact us should you have an inquiry about refugee matters. Thank you and best wishes.”
