Frank Gashumba, a social and political commentator, says that only the ruthless hand of death can stop first son Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba from becoming Uganda’s next president, replacing his 77-year-old father Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni.
Lt Gen Kainerugaba’s recent birthday celebrations, which have been held in the capital Kampala, and in a number of towns across the country, have revealed the first son’s interest in the country’s top seat.
While Kainerugaba had been previously been coy and somewhat careful regarding his rumored interest in the presidency, he and his supporters have used the birthday celebrations to make known their intentions.
Museveni’s son has talked of making Uganda great, winning power and being unstoppable in his quest to become Uganda’s next president, succeeding his father who has ruled the poor East African nation since taking power following a five-year bush war that ended in 1986.
Muhoozi’s birthday celebrations end today at Entebbe Cricket Oval. As he has promised, in coming days or weeks, the president’s son, who is also his senior advisor on special operations, is expected to announce his political program as he moves to succeed his father in 2026.
And some of his supporters say the first son son’s quest to rule Uganda is unstoppable. Gashumba, one of the supporters of the Muhoozi 2026 Project, says Kainerugaba will rule Uganda, taking over from his father about four years from today. Gashumba, the founder and CEO of Sisimuka Uganda, says only the cruel hand of death can block Muhoozi’s 2026 presidential bid.
“Muhoozi will run for president. Only death can stop him from becoming the next president of Uganda,” said Gashumba, who has been in trouble with a number of National Unity Platform (NUP) leaning supporters after he claimed that their leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine works for incumbent President Museveni and that the opposition party was not interested in ending the NRM regime.
Gashumba is not the only controversial figure who has sworn that Museveni’s son will be president. House of Prayer Ministries International (HPMI) Pastor Aloysius Bujjingo has told Ugandans that Muhoozi will be president whether they want it or not. (Read Story Here).
