Sisimuka Uganda Founder and CEO Frank Gashumba has made it clear that even when he believes that opposition leader Dr Kizza Besigye is like Jesus to him, he will not vote him if first son Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba is on the presidential ballot paper in the 2026 elections.
Gashumba has been sighted at the recently concluded 48th birthday celebrations for Lt Gen Kainerugaba, and has since been vocal in promoting him on his media show appearances, and telling all and sundry that he will vote the president’s son if he runs to succeed his father President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni.
Aged 77 and in power since 1986, Museveni has not yet officially announced if he will run for president in 2026, when Uganda will hold her general elections. By 2026, Museveni will have ruled the country for 40 years and it remains to be seen if he will push to stay in power for another five or even 10 years.
According to Gashumba, nobody can defeat President Museveni or any member of his family in a presidential election. It is for this reason that he feels it would be prudent to vote Muhoozi if he appeared on the same ballot paper with Dr Kizza Besigye.
“I support Besigye but if General Muhoozi stands for presidency, I will support him because there is no election that will ever move Museveni and his family,” Gashumba told Urban Rush Talk.
Besigye has contested against Museveni four times, losing in all the elections since 2001. But the former bush war personal physician to then warlord Museveni has on all occasion claimed that he was rigged out.
Besigye opted out of the 2021 presidential election, leaving his Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party president Patrick Oboi Amuriat (POA) to stand. Amuriat came third in the election after Museveni who won the poll and political newcomer, Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine of National Unity Platform (NUP).
FDC also lost it’s main opposition position to NUP which managed to win more parliamentary seats, almost all of them in pop star Bobi Wine’s Buganda sub-region.
Recently, Besigye answered the question of whether he will run for president in 2026. (Read Story Here).
But Gashumba has told Ugandans that he is sure that Muhoozi will be Uganda’s next president after Gen Museveni has left power, and that only death can stop him from ascending to the highest office in the land. (Read Story Here).
