Four Killed ‘Terrorists’ Linked to Top ADF Commander Luminsa’s Inner Circle

Uganda’s security agencies say they have shot dead four members of Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) engaged in the recruitment and logistical coordination for the rebel and terrorist group.

The operation in which the shooting happened followed the November 16 bomb blasts in Kampala in which scores were killed and almost 40 sustained injuries.

Security agencies have blamed the the twin bombings, that came on the heels of a bomb blast at an eatery in Komamboga and an explosion on an Ishaka-bound bus, on ADF.

Now, Uganda Police Force (UPF) spokesperson Fred Enanga has confirmed the killing of four suspected ADF rebels connected to Muhammad Luminsa, who is believed to be the fifth commander in the ADF structure of command.

According to Enanga, counter terror teams encountered a group of four ADF suspects in Ntoroko during the joint security taskforce’s operations in Bundibugyo and Ntoroko Districts.

“They were successfully surveilled and intercepted at Kisenge trading centre, along the Fort Portal-Bundibugyo Highway,” said Enanga.

“They were shot and killed as they tried to force their way through the check point and evade arrest.”

The killed suspected ADF rebels have been identified as Atindya Yassin aka Senabulya Dan, Byaruhanga Musa Bahemuka, Turikimanya Joshua Mathias and Bagonza Joseph.

The police publicist also noted that joint counter-terrror teams have conducted several raids and operations, aimed at disrupting and dismantling emerging terror cells within the country.

“A total of 21 suspects including operatives and coordinators, from the ADF cells that had been established in Mpererwe, Lweza, Luweero, Ntoroko and Bundibugyo. The cells were secretly involved in violent terrorist activities using IEDs and other weapons,” he said.

“Their arrests were based on information given by their accomplices and co-conspirators, who gave good accounts on how they planned, prepared and executed their acts of terror.”

Enanga further revealed that counter terror teams previously recovered three sets of IEDs from the residences of Matovu Adam aka Manhaji from Ttula Kawempe, Mugamba Moses Mudasiru aka Kalyowa aka Moze, from Katooke Nansana, and Muwonge Yusuf from Kireka Biira.

“All the IEDs were successfully detonated by the bomb squad,” he added. “In addition, an AK-47 Rifle, was recovered from the ADF cell in Paidha from Warom Felix.”
