Retired Lieutenant Colonel (Rtd Lt Col) Ahamad Kashilling, a former commander in Gen Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni’s National Resistance Army (NRA) bush war that raged on from 1981 through 1986, has passed on.
Lt Col (Rtd) Kashilling was was Resistance Officer number RO/0040. He was the commander of the fifth battalion when it captured Katonga Bridge along the Masaka-Mbarara Road.
In 1986, Museveni’s NRA captured power. Kashilling was given the rank of lieutenant colonel when formal ranks were finally commissioned. He was also named the director of the army’s records, a role for which he later blamed for the woes that followed thereafter, including his arrest and trial for treason.
Lt Col (Rtd) Kashilling passes on this Thursday, November 03, morning, Security Minister and former bush war comrade Maj Gen (Rtd) Jim Muhwezi has announced. Minister Muhwezi saluted Kashilling for his dedication and bravery in service to his nation.
“I am saddened to announce the passing of comrade Lt Col (rtd) Ahmed Kashilling. He was a brave and dedicated soldier. He served his country until now when he has gone be with his creator. May Allah rest the soul of my departed comrade in eternal peace,” he announced.
