National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine’s supporters have dragged first son Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba into the raging debate sparked by uproar after the singer-turned-politicians sent his children to the US just one week to January 14 presidential election.

Bobi Wine has defended his decision to send his children abroad, making claims that the state planned to harm his family members.

But government has denied any plot to harm Bobi Wine and his family members, accusing him of aping veteran opposition leader Dr Kizza Besigye.

Now as debate rages online, Kainerugaba is part of the discussion subjects.

NUP supporters say pro-Museveni and National Resistance Movement (NRM) Ugandans should first remember that the Lt Gen Kainerugaba was not in the bush when his father Museveni was fighting between 1980 and 1986.

Kainerugaba previously admitted his family were refugees in Sweden.

Bobi Wine supporters even dug up a video capturing the first son’s 12th birthday celebration.

At the party were the kadogos (child soldiers) who were in the bush while Kainerugaba was in safe Sweden.

First son Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s 12th birthday celebration in 1986, the year Museveni took over power after a five-year bush war.

Some NUP supporters have sworn that the fact that Bobi Wine flew his children to safety in the US will not deter them from continuing with the ‘struggle.’

NRM supporters have argued back saying when Museveni’s family members like his wife Jane Kataaha and son Kainerugaba were outside the country, there was war, and that since there is therefore no war, the NUP leader blundered in sending his kids to the US.
