FDC Sends Message to Speaker Jacob Oulanyah Amidst Death Rumors

Opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party says it is praying for the quick recovery of speaker of parliament Jacob Oulanyah despite ideological differences. 

Oulanyah was rushed to the US in February 2022. (Read Story Here).

Deputy speaker Anita Annet Among would later tell MPs that Oulanyah was improving. (Read Story Here).

On March 15, Anita Among flew to the US to check on her boss Oulanyah. (Read Story Here).

Also visiting the speaker in the US is Chief Justice Owiny-Dollo and Oulanyah’s close family members. (Read Story Here).

Among and Owiny-Dollo flew to the US to check on Oulanyah amidst rumors that the speaker has died. (Read Story Here).

The rumors of Oulanyah’s death spread after Wikipedia published an update claiming he had breathed his last. (Read Story Here).

Now, FDC says that while they may not agree with Oulanyah and his NRM party led by long-serving president Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni, they wish the speaker quick recovery.

“We send our thoughtful prayers to the Speaker of parliament Jacob Oulanyah, with the hope that you will feel better and bounce back strong as a bull,” said the party in a statement. 

“Regardless of our political differences, it’s a reminder that we are one Uganda, one people. We pray for a quick recovery.”

FDC president Patrick Oboi Amuriat says the party does not wish its opponents dead.

We may disagree on political ideology but will NEVER wish our political opponents death,” he noted. 

“We stand with NRM, Parliament, the people of Acholi and family of Jacob Oulanyah, the people of Acholi and family of Jacob Oulanyah as he continues to receive treatment for his illness. Get well Jacob. We keep you in our prayers.”

NUP leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine has also reacted to speaker Oulanyah’s death rumors. (Read Story Here).
