Ugandan President Gen Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni has been on sick leave since last week. He was diagnosed with Covid19.

But as expected in the age of social media, some people have been spreading unfounded reports that the 78-year-old president of the republic had been admitted in intensive care unit (ICU) in critical condition.

Some even went as far as lying that the president had died.

These claims were originated and vended by online gutter blogs and parody social media accounts of some established media.

In the era of screenshots, fake news can go viral, faster than correct information.

The Pearl Times Fact Check Desk can authoritatively confirm that the news of Museveni’s admission to ICU is fake, at least according to the president’s own Twitter diaries.

Almost every day, Museveni updates his bazukulu (grandchildren) and other Ugandans on how he is faring.

According to his latest update, Museveni seemed to be out of danger.

He was pictured reading through some papers, and he revealed that he had spent hours poring through the same.

He added that Covid19 had given him a chance to look at some of these government papers.

At about 10pm on Sunday, Museveni gave another update.

“It is now day 5 of my corona-status. Last night, I slept very well up to the 10th hour of the night (saa kumi za usiku –what the Europeans call 4am). This time, the dull headache was not there, nor was the mild throbbing (enkuratima) on top of the head (oruhoora-hoore),” he wrote.

“Initially, on Wednesday, there was also some mild muscle soreness (kutonekara), typical of the usual flu. The soreness I was feeling on Wednesday was less than one would feel with the usual flu. That soreness of muscles, has now gone. Also, some roughness (obugiimbi) on the throat, has gone.”

He confirmed that he had taken a Covid19 test but was still positive.

“However, we carried out corona tests today and they were still positive. We shall wait for a few more days and check again. I remain in self-isolation at Nakasero.”

Meanwhile, Museveni’s wife Janet’s Covid19 test results have been released. (See Details Here).

Also, as we reported months ago, a popular prophet claimed that God had told him that a certain powerful president in the region was suffering from prostate cancer and that he should hand over power peacefully or he will die in power and his country will be left in chaos. (See Details Here).

You can also see the names of powerful members of Museveni’s First Family who are reportedly interested in replacing the elderly Museveni in 2026 HERE.
