FACT CHECK: Is Jacob Oulanyah Dead? Here’s the Truth About Latest Speaker’s Death Rumors

A tweet alleged to have been written by first son and commander land forces Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba is being shared online by some people claiming that speaker Jacob Oulanyah is dead. But this is not true.

Oulanyah flew to the US for treatment last week. (Read Story Here).

Days later, deputy speaker Anita Annet Among spoke out on the health condition of her boss, and his treatment abroad.

Deputy speaker Among also spoke about rumors that Speaker Oulanyah had died. (Read Story Here).

Now, a tweet reportedly sent out by Lt Gen Kainerugaba has sparked off rumors again.

So, what’s the truth?

The Pearl Times Fact Check Desk can authoritatively confirm that the tweet being circulated is not from the first son.

No such tweet has been sent out by Lt Gen Kainerugaba.

By publication time, the last activity on his account was a retweet of a post by President Museveni on his meeting with President Dennis Sassou Nguesso of Republic of Congo.

That was 16 hours ago. (By the time we published this story).

Latest activity on Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s official Twitter account by publication time

Besides, there’s a difference between the profiles in the official account and the one carrying the tweet we can now confirm is fabricated.

The Pearl Times Fact Check can confirm that this tweet is FAKE.

While the official one doesn’t include the UPDF website link, the fabricated one includes this information.
